Earthquake in Hawaii Reminds Us to be Prepared for Natural Disaster

October 15, 2006, Los Angeles, CA - www.Rileycare.com urges the public to be aware of pet’s safety and care during this time.

Have dogs properly contained in a safe area away from structures either in a small kennel in the car with windows cracked open or attached with a sturdy lead to a post or a tree in a clear space in the yard.

Limit activity through debris caused by the earthquake. Broken glass, wood splinters, exposed nails can all cause serious damage to dog’s legs and/or feet.

Check the dog bedding, toys or dog food for glass shards or debris prior to use.

Pets will also need fresh water made available to them. Do not use water from the tap or garden hose until it has been purified or cleared safe by the government.

Finally your dog can also be very nervous now and prior to any after shocks. A little positive acknowledgement or hug time will go a long way in making your pet feel safe.
