Pet Safety in Texas
More Flooding from Hurricane Paul
October 23, 2006, Los Angeles, CA - www.Rileycare.com urges the public to be aware of pet’s safety and care during this time. Throughout the reporting of severe flooding in Texas and the potential for even more flooding from Hurricane Paul, little has been mentioned about safety and preparedness for dogs.
With broken glass, debris, water and power being unavailable during this event, we are reminded again of what can happen in a hurricane and the power of Mother Nature. Not being prepared is unacceptable.
The following is a list of items you may need for your dog in the event of a disaster:
- Proper containment of your dog in a kennel crate or being properly secured in a clean safe place.
- Harness style collar and lead for best control.
- Clean drinking water with a 5 year shelf life.
- Dog booties to protect their feet from broken glass and debris.
- Extra food, medication and treats.
Be prepared for your whole family.
Also make sure your home has a Rescue Notice Sticker to indicate you have PETS inside!
