RileyCare.com provides important information for pet owners regarding dog health, safety, home and garden advice, and pet emergency preparation. RileyCare.com also offers a “Pets in the News” section, featuring recent relevant news items, various articles on seasonal and timely pet subjects, as well as free Riley’s Tips.

RileyCare.com’s vision is to become a leader in the gathering and dissemination of health, safety, and emergency preparedness information and products for all dog owners. This informative and entertaining site is one of only two pet-related organizations that are included in the National Preparedness Month 2006 Coalition (www.ready.gov) as endorsed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

It is easy to forget about the special needs of animals in a large-scale disaster or other emergency and RileyCare.com is proud to help pet owners prepare for the worst. We cannot wait for another tragic event such as Hurricane Katrina to remind us of what we have failed to prepare for. As Ms. Ginger Guttner from the Louisiana State University Veterinary Hospital comments on the event: “We had been working with two shelters during Katrina . . . one of them had over 7,000 animals it was caring for that had been displaced and our shelter at LSU had over 2,000 pets.” From tornadoes and hurricanes to blizzards and flooding, there is a great and ongoing need for a site like RileyCare.com.

RileyCare.com has also set up The Riley Care Fund, which will financially assist “under recognized” charities, groups, individuals, and non-profits dedicated to assisting dogs.
